ATI Video Card Drivers

It says for the new Catalyst 4.12 drivers that I need SP2 installed. I was just curious as to if I really do need it. Thanks in advance.

if it says it 'requires sp2' in the manual, then there must be some reason for saying it.

Or, does it say that it is 'supported by sp2'?

It says the it is recommends it be installed.
