ATI video capture question

I have an ATI Radeon 64mb ddr vivo card. I want to be able to use the video in on my card to watch TV on my computer. A friend of mine has the same card and accomplished this by hooking the cable up to a VCR and then connecting an RCA video cable from the VCR's output to the input on the video card and it works great. Does anyone know of a way to do this without a VCR and still be able to switch between different TV channels? (the VCR servers as the channel changer in my friend's case)

Umm, you need a TV tuner somewhere in the loop. That is what the VCR is doing in your friend's setup. So the answer is you cannot do what you want to do without using some sort of a tuner. You may want to consider getting a cheap PCI TV tuner card. They run about $45 US.
