ATI Video and DVD problems...help needed!

My new AIW9800 SE soft-modded to PRO seems to have trouble running DVD's and some video files. On video files there are small black dots flickering about the screen, and when playing DVD's it gets past the opening blue copyright info screen then promptly goes blank, although sound is still there. I'm sure it's not a result of the soft-mod, as games run perfectly fine with no artifacts, and I can't see the DVD player putting any strain on the extra 4-pipelines. Anyone got any ideas?😕

Unfortunately unlocking the card doesnt just re-enable 4 pipes it also effects shaders. Some of these shaders are used for FULLSTREAM? technology and IDCT ,this could be your problem. Simple way to tell is to disable the mod. The only other thing it could be is a macrovision or region code/setting problem.

Correct. ATi runs the video overlay through the shader hardware for filtering. Operate the card the way it was intended, then look again.

Right, cheers for the replies but as I figured, it was a driver problem. I simply uninstalled the DVD decoder (latest version) and then re-installed the older one that came with the card. It now works like a treat. Thanks anyway though.
