ATI users

Catalyst, version 5.2 specifically. In WinXP x64 I use the built in drivers with the Control Panels from Catalyst Beta 3.

In my opinion the latest CATALYST drivers are usually the best. The choice between control panel and CCC shouldn't really matter.

i use whatever Catalysts that are working great for the games i am playing at the moment and upgrade when i have issues - generally with new games. 😉
i believe mine are 2nd latest . . . .

Whats da diffrence between catylist and Omega?

Omega is a highly modified unofficial version of the Catalyst drivers intended for enthusiasts.

They are really nice try them if you haven't.

I use 4.12 only because I am unable to upgrade!!

It always gives me a "zero display service error" (IIRC) 😕

Straight forward poll.

My straight forward reply, latest official ATI drivers as soon as they are released without the new CCC,oh and I use Driver Cleaner as well .

🙂

Exactly what ATI recommends.

Latest drivers do come without the new CCC if you want it, but the old control panel won't have the latest features, they are ditching it. However, I don't see the problem with having the CCC. I never run it though.

For what it's worth, here is a quote from ATI on Omega's site.

(11/09/03)
The Omega Drivers have been recognized by ATI as the best moddeed drivers in the Internet!!!

Here is a quote from Terry Makedon when he was interviewed by a German Magazine:

"ATI supports the enthusiast community wholly. Omega Drivers are in fact a good example of ATI's user community at its best. What they are in principle are CATALYST drivers with different settings enabled via registry keys and other such methods. This provides users an alternative to ATI's CATALYST default settings. While there are a few different modification drivers out in the community our relationship with the creator of the Omega Drivers is of the highest working standard. The author of these drivers is part of the CATALYST beta driver testing team and also in direct contact with ATI. In fact we would go so far as to say that if a user chooses to go the mod driver route they go with the Omega Drivers."

Many thanks to ATI and their support team for this honor!

His drivers seem to be more focused on IQ over FPS but in general, I've been very happy with omega drivers for the last 4 years now.

I`ll when they fix the refresh rate bug stuck at 60Hz in BNC mode when you`ve CCC installed , 60Hz refresh rate over ride settings in BNC mode, at desktop and in 3D gaming works fine without CCC installed 😉.
