I know VE is the cheaper edition but I'm not sure what's the difference. From the way I see it, the VE doesn't record stereo sound, and the normal TV Wonder does record stereo sound? Well it says stereo tuner at least.

Anyhow, the VE is like $50? And the Normal TV Wonder is $85

Does anyone the + and - of each?

I want to:
1. Watch Television
2. Record TV at a good Res, maybe 640x480 if possible?
3. Be able to have it auto record & schedule. Like I leave my computer on and everyday at 7:30 it'll record Simpsons for me, etc.

I have an Athlon 1.4 w/ a Radeon 8500 w/ 512 mb of ram.

What do you guys think? Thanks in advance =)

also, will the VE work fine in a p133 or p75? or do they need more horsepower? just curious as i was just going to use an old rig and monitor strictly for tv. how is the resolution on these? does it look worse than normal tv or the same?

Why not just use your current system w/ the tv wonder? Use your dual output and put another monitor on it?

Epod, Get the TV wonder...I have it and with the latest upated drivers it gives support to capture to mpeg2 at 640 res. You can still capture raw avi and mpeg1 (vcd)...I bought it 8 months ago and was disappointed at first but these latest drivers and upgrade to a 1.4ghz tbird it flat kicks a**...

Auto record is also available...

we discussed in another thread that this wont work, it will only display on the primary monitor. i will be running a dual monitor on this one, and just have the other system as a tv basically. plus it'll look cooler with 3 monitors :) right now i have 4 in here :(

duvie, were you just referring to recording? or was it slow on an older system? im just looking for the tv portion and what power is needed to run it. hopefully not much.

pretty much just the recording...tv looked good but had some issues with fast motion pictures such as sporting events...this was fixed with direct x 8.0 and video update along with ati's latest drivers...

amd 400 - tv looked good...recording was good at mpeg1 and bad with dropped frames in raw avi.

amd 750 - tv looked good...recording got better with raw avi capture better but slight frame dropping which could cause avi synch issues.

amd 1100 - tv looked good...can record at any level

amd 1400 - tv loooks great...can record at any level plus added mpeg2....
