Ok, last night I was in circuit city trying to find something to spend a $50 gift card on.
I found the ATI TV wonder USB 2.0 and decided to get it. Normally I don't buy ANYTHING without research first, but this one time I think did no research. I learned my lesson.
I have a splitter running cable to my modem and also to a TV in my computer room. I unhooked the TV and connected the ATI tuner to that cable.
I installed the software on from the CD, hooked up the tuner when I was instructed to, and everything seemed to work fine. (other than the software being a big pile of crap that associates itself with ALL media types)
Then I noticed that my motorola surboard modem was not connected. The send light was just flashing. I called my provider and they said nothing was going on in my area and she put in a ticket for me.
I knew that this happened after I connected the ATI tuner, so I decided to remove it from my system to see if the problem would go away. After unhooking it everything pretty much went back to normal.
I found that if i connect the cable to my cable box, THEN to the ATI adapter it works fine.
However, I have decided to return it anyways because it is not a good product at all.
Here's the current problem: The ATI tuner is not connected AT ALL, I have yet to uninstall the software, but whenever my desktop computer is turned on, my modem loses connection. As soon as I shut down my computer, the modem connection returns.
How in the world could the software be causing this problem and does anyone know how to fix it?
I am going to uninstall the software when I get home and if necessary re-image. I would just like to make sure that it's something that a re-image would fix before I go that route.
Thanks.
