ATI TV Wonder Pro

Hey all,

I was thinking that it might be cool to get a tv-tuner card for my computer and I had a couple questions that maybe people who have had a ATI TV W P could answer:

It is advertised as having up to 125 channels, this is just based on one's cable service right?

It says you can record TV. Is this a feature of the included software, or do you have to do other stuff to be able to record TV? On the same line: can you also use the TV recording program to "back-up" DVD's?

OK, I think that's all I have for now. Thanks alot

Yeah, 125 channels based on your cable service. For instance, I only get basic cable, which includes 60 channels. Of course I can receive some reception on channels above 60, but once it gets past 125 it will say 'Station Not Available', though you will still see the programs running on channels higher than 125, mine goes up to 311, for example.

ATI Multimedia Center comes with all the TV Wonder editions, and it includes:

CD Audio
Multimedia Configuration
File Player
Launch Pad
Library
Video CD

And I'm not sure on the purpose half of those serve, but I believe the Video CD program would be your best bet with recording DVDs. If not, some Gordian Knot software will serve your purpose.

TV recording is immediately readily available on the TV viewer itself. You can configure what settings you want, and be able to record instantly with one click. You can also set programs to record at later times as well.

I don't know about the Pro version, but my older TV Wonder leaves a lot to be desired in picture quality. If you've got the $ a hardware PVR card could be a better choice.
