ATI TV-Wonder PCI Beta Drivers v.7.6

I have tried the new beta drivers v.7.6 for the ATI TV-Wonder PCI and it fixed the issues with Windows XP that I experienced with the v.7.1 drivers, but now there is a new problem. When I use the composite-in connector I can't get any audio to work, but the video works fine. To verify this, I booted my computer into my old Windows 2000 installation where v.7.1 was still installed and then the audio worked correctly.

Has anyone been able to get the audio-in to work with the beta v.7.6 drivers? Does anyone know of a way to contact ATI to notify them of the bug?

hmmm ... there is no Audio signal on the Composite Video cable. You need to have a separate Audio wire (and enable it to feed through to the TV card's audio-out).

Along with the composite video-in, there are analog RCA audio input connectors that I have connected to the audio outputs of my camcorder. Like I said, the audio works perfectly when using the old v.7.1 drivers...just not when using the new BETA v.7.6 drivers. This is not a cabling issue. The reason that I want to use the new v.7.6 drivers is because they solve many of the issues that I had with Windows XP and the old v.7.1 drivers. But...if I can't use the composite video and analog RCA audio inputs, then I will be forced to stick with the old drivers.

In a strange coincidence ATI updated the beta driver yesterday. I was originally trying to beta version 7.6.0.1.a, but yesterday they released 7.6.0.1.b. I just downloaded it and I will try it tonight, then I will post my findings here.

I have installed the v.7.6.b drivers and I no longer have the problem with "no audio" using line in. Now I have a new problem. When I try to schedule a video recording, I am no longer given that choice. The only choices I have are to schedule CD Audio Playback and some other type of playback. What can I do to get the digital video recording option back to the scheduling menu?

New 7.701 drivers came out last night. I'm still using 7.1 in Windows 2000 and I don't have any major problems. What's new in the new software? Is the interface still the same?

Thanks a ton fr. I will try them tonight and post the results here.

Yes, the interface is totally new and looks much nicer. There are several things that I like better than v.7.1, especially the scrambled video bug being fixed!

Rats...the 7.701 drivers are for the All-In-Wonder cards, not the TV-Wonder. Looks like I will be uninstalling version 7.6b and going back to 7.1 until they can fix this problem.

UPDATE: (Read through this carefully so you can avoid the same problems that I had. In short, if you use the beta v.7.6.b WDM drivers and v.7.1 multimedia center everything should work!)

After much messing around I now have the ability to schedule digital video recording once again. Here is what I have done now from start to finish:

1). Uninstalled 7.1 WDM Drivers and Video Application
2). Installed 7.6.a WDM Beta Drivers and Video Applications
3). I did not have any audio when using the RCA composite video and analog audio inputs
4). Uninstalled 7.6.a WDM Beta Drivers and Video Applications
5). Installed 7.1 WDM Drivers and Video Applications
6). ATI released 7.6.b WDM Beta Drivers and Video Applications
7). Uninstalled 7.1 WDM Drivers and Video Application
8). Installed 7.6.b WDM Beta Drivers and Video Applications
9). Everything works except there was no choice to schedule digital video recording.
10). Uninstalled 7.6.b WDM Beta Drivers and Video Applications
11). Installed 7.1 WDM Drivers and Video Applications
12). I still didn't have a choice to schedule digital video recording
13). Uninstalled 7.1 Video Applications and deleted ATI Multimedia Registry Key from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE
14). Installed 7.1 Video Applications and I re-gained the choice to schedule digital video recording. Deleting the registry key is the essential component.
15). Unistalled 7.1 drivers and reinstalled 7.6.b WDM Beta Drivers.

Now I am using the v.7.6.b WDM Beta Drivers and the v.7.1 Multimedia Video Applications. Everything is working perfectly! Evidently the v.7.6.b Multimedia Applications do not have the ability to schedule digital video recording. When I uninstalled the programs, the registry key was left behind and it was not overwritten when I reinstalled the applications. By deleting the key and reinstalling the v.7.1 video applications I was able to fix the problem. The advantage of using the v.7.6.b WDM beta drivers is that I do not have scrambled video when starting the TV application anymore!
