ati tv wonder crashes

Starting about a week or so ago, I pretty much can't run any application at the same time as the tv application. I get a quick bluescreen and the system restarts. I tried updating the software but that caused problems on its own, and I ended up having to do a system restore.

any ideas??

The video card is the Radeon 7000... pretty embarressing, I know.

Which driver are you talking about? There are several installed with the tv card.

I would suggest uninstalling the catalyst drivers you have installed and the ATI Multimedia Centre, i.e. DVD, TV etc. Then reinstall both. See if that fixes the problem.

I tried.

Pretty much, if the TV is on at all my computer is completely unstable and 80% of the time it will blue screen and restart.

I'm using the newest multimedia center (9.02).

I have no clue what to do.

Try install latest version of MMC 9.2 but do unstall old version then install new version you will be ok. MMC 9.2 has no problem with mine.

I tried that. 9.2 is even worse! The sound is horrible, and I stil have the crashing problem.

Sorry to hear that. I am not worried about the sound cause I am deaf 🙂

Oops, freudian slip...

I also take back what I said. I could be doing nothing but watching tv and it will crash my comp randomly. I just wish I could watch tv in peace!

I had the same card (still have, just haven't put it back in yet) and I had nothing but problems either. The best I can suggest for now is this:
(1) Uninstall all ATI crap. EVERYTHING.
(2) Boot into safe mode. Uninstall all ATI devices in safe mode.
(3) Run driver cleaner in safe mode. Run it with all "ATI" options.
(4) Reboot and first install latest Catalyst's for vid card.
(5) Install each piece of the TV Wonder suite of crap one by one, in whatever logical order you can think of. Reboot after installing each piece of software.
This is the only way I know that should help eliminate software conflicts. Have you ever had an nVidia card installed? I heard of TV Wonder cards not working right with nVidia drivers installed. GL

I've never had any video card except this Radeon 7000 in the machine. I will give what you suggest a try. I'll be back to report the good/bad news 🙂
