I understand I'm supposed to press F8 while booting, and then disable driver-signing, in order to make it work?

However, nothing happens (well, after POST i get asked which device I want to boot from, which isn't quite what I'm after).

When should I press F8, what should happen, and should I even be doing that?

Get 'ATTLoader.exe'. It disables the driver signing for you, so you don't need to do the F8 thing every time. I just put ATTLoader in my windows startup so it's invisible to me. However, some programs won't run when driver signing is disabled (DRM issues).
