ATI Trade In

they will give you $50 for a 9800 pro, you can get more than twice that on ebay for one.

you got to take into account the trouble and cost of shipping the card to them, etc.

EDIT: did not see that it was the 256mb version

if its the 256-bit version, $150 for radeon 9800 pro is no b/s

but again, it seem the gf 6600 gt at $200 price range will eventually knock then 9800 pro price down a bit, i think

*edit* ok it is the 256-bit memory retail Ati, i would say the 128mb version its worth tradin sh*t card like GF MX440

be careful "Trade-In value is subject to change without notice"

Well, on the one hand you can trade in any junky old card you have. On the other its still not a good deal really. The price on the 9800pro is $249 BEFORE the $50 credit. So you still pay $199 for it. Which makes it about the same or abit more as you would pay at many other places. Its not that its a bad deal, its just not any better then you could do without shipping them something and waiting for the credit.

where can you get a 256-bit 256MB radeon 9800 pro for $199?
or $150 for 128 MB version

these are 256-bit, you save about $30-50 from getting it other place

I was talking about the 128meg version. Here are the cards you can get through trade in and the price AFTER the rebate =

128meg 9800pro = $199
256meg 9800pro = $249
AIW 9800pro = $349
AIW 9600xt = $199

Here are the NewEgg prices on the exact same cards =

128meg 9800pro = $222
256meg 9800pro = $265
AIW 9800pro = $275
AIW 9600xt = $188

In the case of the first two cards you can save around $20 doing the ATI thing. But they will charge you $249 (128meg) and $299 (256meg) untill they process your old card. Then they credit you $50. And on the AIW cards you can save quite abit at NewEgg on the 9800AIW and a little bit on the 9600xtAIW.

And if you don't mind getting a Saphire or Powercolor or something you could drop the prices to something like this =

128meg 9800pro = $197
256meg 9800pro = $229

So I really don't see how the ATI trade in program is a good deal. Its not that its a horrible deal or anything. But in the AIW cases you could pay less to begin with and also not have to bother waiting for them to credit you $50. And in the case of the 9800pro 128meg and 256meg you can save around $20 if you don't mind waiting for them to credit you your $50.

EDIT = I also just noticed you have to pay shipping both ways. So thats probably going to add at least another $10. So you can maybe save around $10 going the ATI trade up way on the non AIW cards. Seems like a lot of work to me for $10...

ok, my bad, i misread the thing

i though you pay $199 and you get $50 back after you ship your card which make the total of $149.but thats not the case so..

this is no deal then
