Hi there, hopefully someone that uses this program can help me out!

The scan for artifacts option is used to test for overclocking stability of ATI video cards.

I have been using it and have 2 questions.

1. If it finds an artifact, does the test stop? The reason I ask is I see some yellow dotting during the test, but it keeps running, are those artifacts?

How does that test work exactly? Can I make the test auto stop if it finds an artifact?

Thanks in advance.

The way the ATI Tool artifact test works, is that it heats up the video card while overclocking it, then it goes in to artifact scanning mode, rise, and repeat. If it's in "find max" mode, it will note when it hits an artifact if it's in the scanning stage, and then back down a little bit, scan again, and do that until it finds a speed where there are no artifacts, and it can't go any higher. My guess is that you're seeing yellow dots during the heatup phase, which doesn't scan for artifacts. Just let it do its job via "find max", and it should be fine.

yeah find max works by itself. I have a question too. do you hear the video card making noise when it's testing, it does it during the heat up phase i think, kind of a whiney screechy noise. it doesn't sound like the fan and i'm pretty sure it's not cause it only does it sometimes when it's hot all the time. it sounds kind of like a hard drive seeking
