ATI tool memory timings

I have a 9800SE --> Pro. And I wanted to squeeze more power out of it, so I thought about the memory timings in ATI tool. I can't find any guide on using those. And I dunno whether I should tighten'em for more performance or relax them and get a higher overclock. And it looks risky to find the lowest timing for each setting, because some of them cause baaad artifacts (they go after a restart). So is there some sort of reference or does anyone have an experience with those settings? I heard they give a good 10% performance boost if used properly.
