"ATI's Orton said that its new GPU would beat GeForce3's specifications and would offer a programming capability as well. He did not disclose an exact launch date, but said the GPU would be released this year."

I for one am sick and tired of ATI's poor windows 2000 drivers. Those freaking idiots won't even release a stable win2k driver set for my ATI TV wonder.... I'm majorly pissed off!

Until ATI provides better software support, I will not purchase any ATI products.

According to their recent financial statements it is sounding like a ~October '01 release date(by the end of Quarter3). I would hope that it will wipe the floor with the GF3 if that date is correct as it will be competing with the GeForce4:)

Dammit, they need to catch up to nVidia. I would buy the Radeon II any day, if it was released at same time as Geforce3, and cost less than $300, and performed, if not faster, upto par with the geforce3! :D

Drivers puts me off ATI,with Nvidia drivers I`ve had no problems(talking over 2 years)with gaming etc,so their next card may be great but drivers is what I want to see improve first from ATi.

NVidia made the same mistake that Rambus, Intel and Microsoft has made before... They are trying to beat the competition by capital rather than technology, Rambus failed, Intel are on their way down from the mountain and Microsoft, well, too many people run their W2K or ME and complain about their HW when their computer hangs, sooner or later everyone will find out that there is a cheaper (FREE!) and way better alternative, LINUX!!

As for NVidia, there are two other major players out there, ATI and Matrox, what if those two would join forces, they are both canadian, both of them are good quality brands... And what if an outside party would create the super-duper memory config for that card, well, we all hate NVidia because we all love competition, so what if? would you buy it?

Yeah, Mr. Orton also said that they will have 300 million dollars quarter one month ago....

He was, obviously, mistaken

Jeez, maybe you are the only one? Nvidia drivers are about as stable as a russion nuclear power plant...

The nVidia juggernaut gets stronger and stronger. ATI are never straight with their specifications. But let's hope they keep nVidia on the straight and narrow themselves.

I've never had any driver problems either.

And when are Geforce3's going to hit the shelves?! I want one soon, so I can finish building my new system.

It would be a big mistake, trust me on this, i cannot give you any info, because, actually, i am not allowed...

The people here that know me know's that i know what i am speaking of, i gave a lot of hints in my last post, maybe too many.

There will be a VC that is way better, cheaper, faster than the GF3 out this year.

For someone speaking for Pc Resources, you don't have anything either insightfull, or realistic to say.

Yes, ATI has always had the hardware. Great features and comparable performance, but bad drivers. I heard that ATI will be announcing the RadeonII shortly after the release of the Geforce3. They will need to release it within at least two months of Geforce3 for them to stay competitive.

I would like to see ATI come out on top for this year, because I think that Nvidia is starting to stagnate. They are offering a product that promises to offer better performance for the next generation of games, at the same time they even said that the "Doom3 Demo" brought geforce3 to it's knees, I'm not going to buy my Doom3 card right now that's for sure. I would not pay $600 dollars for a Video Card that will be outperformed by the X-box within the next 6-9 months.

PCResources,it`s true my last count was 125 plus games so Nvidia drivers have had a good testing with my gaming,I know you don`t like Nvidia but the fact is their drivers are more stable then ATi IMHO.ATi are getting better & I hope they continue to improve,I`m all for good competition but don`t hate any company "except rambus" ;)

BTW nice to see you back.

I hope ATI manages to get a card out that can compete against the GF3 soon, if only for the competition it would provide. ATi still needs to get to work on their drivers, if only they would put half as much work into their drivers as they do in their DVD capabilities.

Well, Dave3B called me an NVidia troll, and i have been taking a lot of heat for defending the NVidia line...

I tried to reason with everyone but no one would listen, NVidia was bad, 3Dfx was great, that is what i was told...

And now i get this from you... Well, i like Nvidia, they have brought the market forwared, but i do believe that i can state that they have crappy drivers if i think so, and i do believe that if i state what i know i shouldn't be bashed for it, what i know is based on a whole lot of experience...

I never had any serious issues with Nvidia drivers when I had my Geforce DDR. ATI on the otherhand is a different story. Every GD new demo or game that comes out has a problem with Radeon. I download the 63mb Summoner demo, looking forward to trying out the PC version (PS2 version stinks), load up the game and the entire screen is black. If Geforce 3 cards end up having good 2d, ATI will not be my choice of card the next round.

Oooh, i see, so you probably tested each component individually, and each driver individually, and of course, you did not overclock, that is why you are sure that the hang was because of bad video drivers? Surely you tried another VC with your setup, and surely that is why you state that Nvidia drivers are better, or?

I have seen this so many times, i had a friend that used a V5 card for Deus Ex, and it just hanged every 5 minutes, of course, he blamed the VC drivers, but the problem wasn't with the drivers, it was the overclock, and in other cases it has been the AGP drivers for the motherboard, i have even seen this sort problems because of the sound card drivers...

I urge all of you to install the GART made by ATI, maybe that will help you out, a lot of people forget this...
