ATI support is of no help :( Has anyone come up w/ a solution to this ATI TV Wonder VE problem?

Television option changes to "Video In" after reboot. ATI acknowledges the existence of this problem but has no solutions to it... http://support.atitech.ca/infobase/3710.html

It use to work perfectly until recently, when I reformatted and reinstalled OS. Now it works only after installation of drivers, but once I reboot afterwards, I get the "Video In" problem.

Video card: Voodoo 5500
Abit mobo
SB Live

Which OS? The beta Win2000 TV Wonder drivers work well with WinME & Win2000. Go to www.updates.com to get latest SBLive drivers & video card drivers first, then use Add/Remove programs to remove older ATI TV Wonder drivers. Some manual driver installation of the beta MMC 7.1 drivers will be required, but eventually you have 5 new "ATI TV Wonder xxx" devices in Device Manager. These beta drivers work fine for TV viewing, but capture function isn't yet too good.

Edit: Also check for (in WinME/Win98) devices which can show up in Device Manager only when system is booted in F8/Safe mode. If duplicate devices are found, delete both "instances" & then reboot in Normal mode to re-detect as a single device.

Use to have dual boot of w2k and win ME and it worked fine, now I wanted to dual boot w/ W98se and w2k instead. First concern is to get it working in W98se. I've already installed the latest sound and vid card drivers, but haven't gotten around to d/l the Windows98se OS updates. I'll try that driver detection in safe mode and see how that goes. Thanks valir.

Did the safe mode Device Manager check, nothing unusual. D/l the MS OS update packs, reinstalled the ATI drivers still having the same problem...

Anyone else have this problem w/ this card?

For me, the only reason to keep WinME/Win98 OS was because of lack of TV Wonder drivers. Now that the beta MMC 7.1 drivers & software are usable, Win2000 is the OS of choice. Much less prone to freeze up & malfunction.
