ATi supporst HDR in Cryteks The Project

A Section out of the webpage for you to read.

When installing the game you'll see that HDR files are being installed. And with ATi putting their logo on it, im guessing (its a guess, but i think a good one) that ATi would have made a way or helped CryTek to code a way to make HDR possible on this real time demo.

"Compression of normal maps using ATI 3Dc and ?object instancing? reduces the amount of processing needed for displaying multiple similar objects in a scene, such as rocks and trees. Real-time post-processing effects, once the exclusive domain of high-priced compositing programs, can change the overall mood by adjusting the color, gamma, and saturation. A depth-of-field camera effect can change the apparent focal distance, animating the scene to make it appear that the scene is being viewed through a different lens perspective. Special pixel shader effects for the ?invisible? mutant create a new refraction-like effect, and Crytek programmers created ?ATI-Water?, a new water shader effect made especially for this demo."

This is a real time demo, so ur in fact installing a game engine and what it needs to run the demo. Here it is...

is it for Ati only, im guessing so, but i wanna run it!

It was sponsered by ATI, but they don't put any artifcal restrictions on their demo so newer Nvidia cards will run it fine.

What i wanna know is how do u adjust the HDR settings

I know u have to use the console and the config files

But HDR is always overly bright and i can never get it to respectable levels, ive seen others who did it and they looked great but i need help to fix this so i can run HDR.

Its great because HDR seems to be running on SM2.0b and it also has pathways for HDR SM3.0.

The depth of field camera effect is a joke... it's like they just slapped little panels on the screen over areas to be blurred, but you can clearly see the edges of them.

That would be called the tilde key... or more commonly known as "The squiggly thing" aka "Watchamacallit"

I noticed that too. I'd kinda wondered if that was a consequence of using an Nvidia card to run the demo, but perhaps not. That part does look pretty cheesy, but everything else is impressive I think.
