ATI Software no longer prompts when change is made

My friend has an ATI card and his catalyst software no longer prompts when he makes a change, so it reverts the change after 15 seconds.

So usually there was a prompt that came up that said, hey do you want to keep these settings?

Now it doesn't display that prompt, and trying to hit the Y key or whatever doesn't work.

So now if he wnats to make a change, he has to make two changes, so it only reverts the last change and keeps his first change.

Anyway, pain in the ass, we've unisntalled and re-installed all that crap and it still did not work.

Any ideas?

Depends where you're trying to make changes, I guess. I ran into this problem when trying to extend my desktop onto a secondary screen, and it kept turning back off. If that's what you're trying to do, extending the screen and then pressing the "Detect Displays" button seems to work.

If it's somewhere else, I'm not sure.

Just how did you uninstall it ?
AFAIK, the normal uninstall process doesn't nuke the old settings file, nor does it get rid of everything it should.

Use drivercleaner or driversweeper or something like that.

This is exactly where it is occurring. He has 2 monitors and a projector, so he tries to switch monitor 2 to the Projector. I'll suggest what you said, that would be much easier than having to do another settings.

We did add/remove, then we tried the catalyst uninstall. I had him download Revo Uninstaller last night, we haven't had a chance to try it yet, but I Think one of these things should do the trick. Thanks for the suggestions!
