And the solution is here:

Evga giving away free SLI boards with 7800GT and 7800GTX purchases.

Now theres no reason for AGP 7800s

Yep no excuses now.

So, are they giving away free PROCESSORS with those boards, too? Last time I checked, the processor was the more expensive part of upgrading a MOBO/CPU.

Oh for the love of all that is in the world.... I give up.

Yes nvidia is out to screw you in every possible way, it is their fault you choose to use old socket CPUs and AGP motherboards.

They intentionally do not offer AGP counterparts just because they dislike consumers, and want to make them all bitch on a board about it.

Furthermore, one of the OEMs tries to capitalize on the idea by offering FREE motherboards with the graphics card, and somehow logic flies around that EVEN USED a motherboard + CPU cant possibly be worth a similar CPU in S939.

Where did all THAT come from? The general topic of discussion drifted towards the facts that:

A) Not everybody wants/needs to upgrade to PCI-E yet.
B) There is no general performance difference between a single AGP/PCI-E card.
C) Next gen AGP cards would NOT require 3-4 power connectors to function.

That's nice that some companies are offering extras with PCI-E video cards. But it still doesn't change the fact that some people don't want to have to swap out their motherboard, purchase a new CPU and possibly need to reformat/reinstall Windows all in order to simply upgrade their video card when AGP offers no performance bottlenecks.
