Has anyone removed the stock hsf form their 9700pro, had a problem, and then reinstalled it and had a successful RMA with ATI? Just curious how closely they look at that when replacing/rma'ing them.

To get an 800MHz o'c out of my 2.53 is astounding, but no, it's definitely not the same or better performance than a HT 3.06. While it is a screamer at 3.3GHz, the HT technology is a whole other story. It's akin to having a dual processor setup. I'm sure a HT enabled 3.06 would easily out perform mine in every benchmark. Even if I were to o'c mine to 3.7GHz, as one member did over in the CPU/O'C forum, I would think the 3.06 w/ HT would beat it hands down.

I would take a HT 3.06 over mine any day, (and probably still o'c it :)) but I don't have the $$'s for it. :(

A HT 3.06GHz is currently about 3 times what I paid for my o'ced 2.53GHz :Q I read a price drop is coming for the HT 3.06's in early May, but I'm afraid it would still be out of my range. I couldn't be more happy w/ my chip though, for what it is.

If you're looking to pick one up that'll give you this kind of o'cing, let me know, or check the CPU/OC forum. There's a wealth of info there.

Very impressive. I think you would be the HT in benchmark because multi thread or dual processing only good for multitasking. lol 800 mhz isn't bad. But can you beat my 1700+ that beats the 3000+ in benchmarks? :D
