ATI RMA process: Does it take long?

Hey guys, my 9800 pro died on me and so I filled out the RMA form at ati's website last night. I'm just wondering if it was normal not to receive an automated confirmation email or a RMA number yet. I'd really like to have my other machine up and running before the holidays. 🙁
 
I've gone thru the RMA process twice. Both times the turnaround time was about 10 days (their US RMA dept. is in New York to avoid the trouble of shipping across the border to Canada). Both times I called and spoke to someone and obtained the RMA over the phone. Both times I received what appears to be a new card but it's in a white box with no accessories so it could have been refurbed but there was no sign of dust and it had that "new" smell.
 
yes it took me a long time before i got my RMA process done
but then again, I am in Malaysia.. like the other side of the world
