ATI RMA experiences

I just RMA'd a dead ATI 9500 pro made by ATI. From people experiences here should I expect to get the same board back just repaired or do they usually ship out another card. What are the odds they might send me back something better (i.e. 9700 pro). I figure there are less and less of these sitting around or is this just wishful thinking?

Got the card yesterday and it is a new 9800 non pro, woohoo! The card has a trapezoid looking heatsink with Infinion 3.0 ram. Anybody know what these cards typically overclock to?

well, you can always do a express RMA which they will sent you a replacement card first then you send your defective card back to them. This way you know you're not getting the same card.
AS for 9500 pro they might still have some lying around from the none defective returns that they recieved from the people that though their card was defective or in hopes to get a better card in return.;)
If they ran out of 9500 pro they might give you a 9600 or above.

That 9800 with the 128bit ram is almost the same card, but I don't think ATI will give you that since I don't think they make those. A 9600Pro would be slower. I wouldn't take less than a 9600XT in return.

I hope they send you something better like a 9700 or a 9800NP.

Wow! that was pretty nice of them.
Somewhat related to your post, but do you know if they sent you a refurb or new card? what's their general policy with that? I heard some stories where users got back defective refurbs only to RMA those again.

Based on just the looks of the card it seems to be new. It just has that new shine look to it.

On a side note I've noticed the other thread similar to mine with people questioning the card specs. I can say for sure mine is a 9800 non pro 256bit ram with Infineon 3.0 memory clocked at 325 core and 580 on the memory. Overall, very impressed with ATI's RMA service.

My returned 9800NP from ATI came back OC'd :p & ditto on ATI's RMA service. Took 1 week from ship to receive.
