ATI releases new Catalyst drivers (3.7)

Anyone got a rad killer? Anyone else know how to make it so windows wont automattically install my drivers?

Okay - so who's going to experiment? My system has actually been stable for a few days and I've got a new MB/CPU on the way (ETA Monday/Tuesday) so I'm going to hold off until then.

I`m going to try them now after download, with Driver Cleaner I`m afraid of nothing 😉.

🙂

The CATALYST? driver now provides a Triple Buffering Option. Enabling Triple Buffering has the potential to increase performance under certain conditions. Please refer to the help file of the feature for additional information. This new feature is located in the OpenGL Compatibility Settings tab.

THANK THE LORD

OK got them installed, tried TFC online for 10 mins then Q3A,UT with no problems. The image quality is nice and I did notice SMARTGART is no longer in ATI control panel.

So thumbs up so far,yes I did use Driver Cleaner as well.

I remember how ppl were bitching a year ago about how crappy ATI drivers are, and how it will never be as stable as the GF4, or as good as nvidia in general.... i got a hat for you ppl to eat... Hell after 3.4 i kinda forgot to update my drivers ... it was quite stable at taht point .. guess ill update today 🙂

In games, half my screen updates and then the other half so it doesn't look right. I notice this when I used to turn off vertical sync. With the 3.7's, I can't force it on, and so its up to the application.

SmartGART is still there.

I`m hearing that the separate Control panel download may be corrupted,RAGE3D members are saying use the single complete package.Looks like I may have to reinstall them again, also I`ve read that truform is missing on the separate stand alone install for Control panel,oh well here I go again.

No increase, in fact an 8 point decrease, in 3DMark03. EDIT-Add to that a 90 point increase in 01SE. So really nothing yet, but...

Just as a side note, the upcoming CATALYST 3.8 will be the most innovative and significant CATALYST release ever, so keep your eyes out for that one!

From some ATI guy. Can't wait 🙂...

Yep, I think so. I had to reinstall using the all-in-one executable.

Tates, yep using the single all complete package solved the no SMARTGART and Truefrom problem that`s in or should I say not in the seperate single Control Panel download.

They work good here.
Sight boost in 3dm01 and 03.

If you been putting off the upgrades, now is the time to upgrade.

This release will beat that old drivers performance.

(still hanging on to those 6218's? I was ....)

Well after a sudden crash in TFC and reboot I had two more serious crashes, also had system32/NTFS corruption, even clicking on the general hardware forum caused a serious crash.I managed to fix all that and reinstall the 3.7 drivers but it`s too early to say if these are stable like the old 3.6s.I just hope I don`t get those BSOD or page fault etc (never had that for over a year now).

I may have to go back to 3.6s,only time will tell, amazing how just changing one set of drivers can cause so many problems, yes I did use driver cleaner again so I`m pretty sure the crashes were due to the CAT 3.7s 🙁.

Never had this much trouble with any drivers in the past.

SEE MY LAST POST, BAD RAM RELATED .

THE GREATEST CATALYST DRIVER RELEASE OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!

BLAH, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH.........................................

All, of these fixes are for games I don't even have/play! Sure stability is #1, but it's been a long time since there has been any performance increase with a new release of Cat drivers. Come on ATI, I know that there has got to be some performance boost in the next release of drivers. Nvidia does this often, why not ATI.
(Please lets not have this nice little thread degenerate into a flame contest.)

Just my $0.02

Well so far these drivers have played nice with my system. On this install of WinXP I've had a GF4 Ti 4400 with 3 different set of Dets and this Radeon 9600 Pro that had Cat 3.6 prior to today. I'm even using Fast Writes with no lockups. Nice!

thatsright

.... you must have not of read all of the release documentation ....

and ... why are you "lighting the match" ....?

(not to mention the lighter fluid in your pocket ... 😛 )

Your right!! I only read the Fixes notes, not the whole release notes. I shouldn't jump the gun like that. Don't you hate it when idiots in here don't do a little bit of their homework first
