Seen this over at Rage3d. I assume its the equivalent of NvFix except for us way cooler ATI users. :) I haven't tested it yet cause it needs a restart and I can't do that right now.

Link

edit: Here's a direct link.

According to some people in this thread, this thing sucks and may mess up your computer. Download at your own risk! I haven't tried it, don't think I will. :)

So who's going to be the guinea pig? :)

Last time I tried this proggy (version dated 1/9) it messed stuff up like TVO. There is also a free proggy from EnTech called MultiRes that you can use to set individual or the minimum refresh rate. Bear in mind this only has a use in OpenGL because DirectDraw includes an override option. Instead of everyone pointing the finger at Microsoft or the hardware chip companies why isn't the same thing added to OpenGL then driver developers could just add the option. Okay, okay, I'll let you point your finger at Microsoft ;)

Damn Zone-Alarm didn't say $hit.

Was I just hacked?

Ok, I'm a glutten for punishment. I clicked again and now This $hiznit pops up.

Somebody please explain???

Oh I thought this thing was new. :)

I still haven't tried it yet since I'm sending a big video to a friend.

I just tried the link again and I don't get anything like that. I just get a some other popup in a different language.

I always totally ignore pop-ups and just refexively close them (that is when I have Pop-Up Stopper disabled) so I had to go back to see what jamautosound was on aboot and sure enough the boot partition was shown in the web page. But that does not mean anyone had access to it or could even see the contents, only that the page displayed it to you. No need to be alarmed. The page says as much in German that it is only an iframe listing of C: and they cannot read it. As far as actually navigating your HDD via that display or downloading whatever proggy they were offering I don't know but if you did not do that you should be okay :)

DON'T USE THIS PROGRAM

I've tried 4 versions of this program. Each one has done some funky things to my internet performance and sound quallity... also caused my system to go boom. Ended up having to do a complete reinstall with each version. Good luck trying to uninstall it.

RefreshLock has a smaller memory footprint, won't kill your system and is a piece of cake to uninstall. Close it out and it's gone.

Just be sure to install your monitor's .inf file if you haven't already. (Control Panel, System, Device Manager, Monitor, etc... update driver... just right clicking the .inf won't install it in XP) It reads the .inf and allows you to set the refreshrate to max settings for your monitor. For example, standard Windows Plug-n-play Monitor .inf max refreshrate is 75hz @ 1024*768. With my monitor .inf installed, 160HZ. You do the math.

I think the site is down @ the moment. But supposed to be back up soon.

Thanks Auric for the *ease of mind* explanation. I appreciate it. :)

I know there are some pretty crafty people out there and that link just kinda freaked me out.
Got cable modem jitters.

Hopefully zone alarm and xp firewall will keep all the bogeymen out. :frown:

Well alrighty, I won't try this thing. I'll try RefreshLock. I really need one, cause I haven't played an OpenGL game in a while and then when I played MoH SP demo (which is mighty impressive btw) my eyes started to hurt after about 5 minutes of 60hz.
