ATI RAGE 2000 problems

I upgraded from a rock solid ATI rage pro turbo to an ATI RAGE 2000 so that I could play Warcraft 3. My system is relatively old, so there wasn't much point in shelling out for a more expensive card.
I just bought the game today, and when I try to run it, my monitor goes black and my system hangs.
Is my 240 watt powersupply underpowered? Is there a known problem with the Rage 2000? I don't think it's the game, since the card seems to hang pretty regularly anyway for no apparent reason. If it is a power problem, then there is no point in me buying another AGP card.

Any insight would be great.

My poor old rig:
ASUS CUV4X
Celeron 450
4 Gig Maxtor 5400rpm
40 gig Maxtor 7200rpm
16 bit sound card
ATI DV wonder
USB DSL modem
Acer 40X CD ROM
Yamaha 24X10X40 CD RW
230 watt powersupply

Did you remove the old drivers before installing the card?

Did you install the new driver for your Rage 2000 card?

No, I didn't remove the old drivers. I only installed the one's that came with the card. They installed fine. THen I tried to install the latest drivers, but the system crashed. Do you think I have to remove the old drivers first?

yes remove the display adapter fom the device manager

when it asks you for the drivers

you want to pick it from the list

then choose standard agp display adapter

it will load then reboot

then load the drivers for the rage 2000 and your problems should be over

hope this helps

WoW!!! First the Rage128 chip, then the Radeon R200, then the 9000's R250 and 9700's R300...
Now a brand new spanky Rage2000! :p :p :D

I'm sure every single person in here is aware it's the Xpert 2000 card using a Rage128 chip. ;)

Oops. Forgot to mention, get the latest Rage128 drivers from ATI. That will help.
I HIGHLY doubt there's any problem with Rage128 at Blizzard..... a quick check at Blizzard's site for compatibility issues could help though.

Thanks guys,

As it turns out, my drivers weren't the problem, nor the card, or compatibility issues etc. Part of the problem was that the game won't run in DirectX, but is fine in OPen GL. Second, and this is the big part, my CPU was overclocked to meet the game specs. I clocked it back to it's original settings and now my system is rock solid (but the game is choppier than a bamboo harvest).

Edit: choppy of course, due to my low (366mhz) horse power
