ATI Rage 128 Pro Ultra 16mb

I just got this card, and I don't know much about it, nor can I find
any good info on it. Now my question is, how fast is this card?
Faster than my old Riva TNT (that's 1 not TNT2), 😀 or is it slower?
D3D and Open-GL? Are the drivers any good? 😉
I have also seen it be described as Rage 128 Pro II (TF).

As far as I know, it's not a gaming card, back then those ATI were more for 2D and DVDs.

Your old TNT might just do better than the ATI right now.

I suggest that you use the TNT if you play games, if you surf the web or watch DVDs then use the Rage128. If you overclock the TNT, it beats the Rage clearly.

Thanks for the info, but reading the review I somehow don't think
it is exactly the same chip / card. The Rage 128 reviewed there has a core
clockfrequence of 90Mhz, my card is a Rage 128 Pro / ultra with core speed 😀
around 120-135Mhz, atleast that's what the Rage tweaker prg says.

This is an OEM card found on the Dell, from a New Dell D4400 with P4-1800 etc.
so I kinda guess it's a bit faster now. 😎

there were a few rage128 chips.


the rage128gl was the original, followed by the pro which you have.


the rage128gl was clocked at 75/75, 90/90 or 103/103. there was a bios out there for 100/110 also. i used to have one. this was a little slower than a tnt2 if you had the 103/103 one.


the pro was on a smaller process, so it clocks a little faster. so should be right around tnt2 speeds.

Well on-top of that mine says Ultra, and according to Rage 128 Tweaker that I found on rageunderground.com the core is 125 Mhz
and mem 130Mhz default, how about that? 😀

when i wrote that above i meant the rage128gl pro, which is what you have , compared to those slow ones the standard rage128gl on the larger process

Now I got this baby up to 150 Core and 185 Mem speed, sounds a lot better
than the old Rage 128 GL and the TNT. 😀

It has 6ns SDRAM, but only 16MB :-/

I wonder if I need more CPU power than this ~ 464Mhz C300A that I have.
I've got a Athlon XP 1800+ with ASUS Crush 420 mobo too. 😉
