ATI Rage 128 Pro Onboard/Voodoo 2 SLI

A friend recently give me a Gateway 400 mhz. celeorn system with onboard Ati Rage 128 Pro video , and I was wandering if I would be better off on my older games (Monster Truck/Motocross Madness 1+2,Need For Speed 3,Unreal,etc) using the Ati by itself , or using the 2 free pci slots and slapping in my old 12 meg Voodoo 2's in sli mode for 3d stuff .

i think the voodoos would work better, but, why not just try the ATI, and if u don't get acceptable rates, stick the voodoos in if it isn't too much trouble

Yep , frame rates are acceptable , most of the older games that this machine will run decently are run at 640x480 anyway .

well, if you've got the v2's sitting around, you might as well install them. a lot of older games have a glide mode, and the v2's would be much faster than the ati.

The Rage 128 Pro will be faster than the SLI'd Voodoo2s and ATi's drivers should be pretty decent by now. So unless you play a lot of Glide games stay with the Rage.

is this card the 32 MB rage fury pro (i believe that is what the 128 pro based cards were called by ATi)? if yes, then BFG10k is correct. if it is the old rage pro, then ditch it for the voodoo2's as fast as possible!

Rage 128 pro is little slower than Voodoo 2 sli.

Voodoo 2 sli is about same speed as tnt2.

EdipisReks - it is 16 meg .

A Rage128 pro is at least as fast as a TNT2 with some cool features like texture compression as well.
You'll find the colours MUCH richer on the Rage128pro, so I'd only use the Voodoo2's for Glide games like Unreal.
If you have them, throw one or two in for Glide only.
Or sell them.
