I want a video card that will be able to play games for a while and I want to pay around 150 or 160. I'm considering the 9600XT 128mb. I'm going to be playing UT 2k3 and 2k4, some need for speed games and battlefield 1942. Is that a good card for that? I can get a XT for 150 at a local store. Does anyone have any comments on this card?

I have a 9600XT and it plays UT2K3/4, BF1942, and FarCry @ 1024x768 with high settings with no problem. You will probably have to stay away from AA/AF, but if you are really into gaming, that stuff slips right by.

Beware of the 9800pro robots, they will tell you to spend a few more bucks (30+) to get a 9800 pro, but if you want to spend just 150, the 9600XT is the way to go. What would probably be better is if you could go on Ebay and find a 9700pro for around that price. The 9700pro beats the 9600XT handily.

It's a decent card for 10x7 with little or no AA/AF, but shell out a little more for a much faster 9700/Pro or 9800/Pro if you want to game at higher resolutions with AA+AF. Avoid 9800SEs and ~$170 Sapphire "9800 Pro's" with 128-bit memory buses.
