Ati Radeon x850PE acting up?

Hey guys,
I just upgraded my video card from a Ati Radeon 9800 Pro 256 to a Ati Radeon x850PE. For some reason the card seems to perform the same if not worse then my 9800. In farcry when i go to Auto-Detect setting it sets EVERYTHING to low, meanwhile when I did it with my radeon 9800 it set everything to high.

Here are a few things about my computer:
-I have p4 2.8C with a pretty outdated mobo - P4PE-X
-The motherboard has a 845PE chipset (which only suports 4x - maybe this is the problem? AGP chipset drivers are too old? the newest intel chipset driver utility doesnt have my chipset included in the list of affected chipsets, which pretty much means that installing it wont do me anygood? link to release notes/list: Link.)

2.8C is the bottleneck. Are you using the latest Catalyst 5.6 drivers?

Run DXDIAG, check under Display, and see if your AGP Texture Acceleration is working. Sometimes that gets turned off when installing ATI's drivers.

driver problem methinks.

uninstall all drivers for video, run driver cleaner pro, reinstall with latest catalyst drivers.

thanks guys. i'll try all those and maybe I can fix the prob.
I'll be upgrading mobo and processor next week so if nothing works hopefully that will sort it out.

Also make sure Far Cry is patched to 1.3.
