The fan on my X800XL is making some kind of scraping noise.. Almost like something is stuck in there. I've had the card now only 14 months, so the fan should still be fine. I blew it out about 4 months ago (canned air), and it wasn't dirty at all. Then just a few days, out of no-where it started making this annoying sound. I pulled the fan off the card as best I could and looked at it closely, and vaccumed it, plus blew it out with air again, and its sill making the noise.

At this point im just wondering, if I can order a replacement fan from ATI? (dont want to bother registering on their site again and calling them if its just a waste.) I'm also wondering if theres a better third party option, and on that point, can this card be overclocked without hardware mods? I've seen the overclocking software in ATI's drivers on DL.TV, but they don't show up with my card. Its not like coolbits where it has to be enabled manually?

This same f'in problem (annoying sound) happend with my ATI Radeon 7500.. At least with that card I could unplug the fan and it would still work fine. This X800XL however is hot enough to fry an egg on with the fan turned off and the computer idle sitting at the login screen.

Thanks.

Cliffs:
1) Fan sounds like its f'ed
2) Can I order a replacement fan from ATI?

Under $25 shipped. With an Arctic Cooler for that price, why would anyone want to get another stock cooler? The AC will cool your card better and do it quieter to boot.
