ATI Radeon X800 or Nvidia Geforce 6600GT?

I'm currently in the market for a video card. I haven't been following up on video cards for about three years now. Skimmed through some of the articles and guides that tom's has , but still not really sure what I should get.

I'm a casual gamer looking really to just play HL2 and its mods (CS source, DOD Source, etc). Currently have a P-D 2.8 ghz, 1gb of memory computer. I'm looking for a video card that fits my needs, cheaper the better, request medium quality be smooth.

I've looked and these two seem to fit my needs and price range, Radeon X800 128mb or an NVIDIA 6600GT 128mb.

Both are around $150, and thats about my max range. Which one should I pick? Any other recommendations are welcomed. If there is a card that is under $100 that can fit my needs, please suggest.

Must be PCI-E

The x800 is faster in most games, and Ati cards perform better in HL2-based games, so for the same price the x800 is a better buy.

I guess the choice is an x800. Now im currently looking at this x800 and according to the specs, it does not use DDR3, instead only DDR. Would that massively slow down the card? There was a user that claimed this to be a mistake, so I guess I can try my luck.

Also would 256mb improve the performance a lot or is it more of a marketing gimmick?
