I am in the market to buy a new video card but I can't seem to figure out what is a better performer, the Radeon 9500 or the Gforce 4 TI 4200. Price is about $154 for the Radeon 9500 128 and $140 for the G4 TI 4200 128. Thoughts anyone. . . ?

Depends on if you're talking about the PRO or non-PRO version of the 9500. The Radeon 9500 PRO can compete with the Ti4600, especially when FSAA is enabled. the non-PRO 9500 is a little slower than a Ti4200 I think.

I would go with Radeon 9500. It supports DirectX 9 and has better image quality.

I heard all 9500 PCB and layout are similar because they are all made by ATI.
Those non-ATI brands just put different heat sink/fan.

Take look at link here. http://www.pcpop.com/read.asp?id=610

The 9500 spanks Ti4200 cards when it comes to FSAA and anisotropic filtering being enabled. The latest drivers gave some pretty nice performance boosts all around. Check out Firingsquad and look at the Catalyst 3.0 driver report.

As mentioned, the 9500 PRO is what you want, not the vanilla 9500.
