ATI RADEON VE 32MB DDR DUAL VGA DISPLAY with 2 VGA Out and one TV Out OEM

I need to build a system for a part-time gamer. I've been told the RADEON is a good card for both text for work and 3D for gaming. Is this model out of date or slow? I can get it for $86 but I don't have a clue as to it's capabilities.

If you need the Dual head capabilities, the VE might be the choice for you. However, if you do not need it, you should definitely stay away from it. There are much better gaming/work choices than the VE because it is SEVERELY crippled ( and you can't fix it). I reccomend getting the Radeon DDR LE, because this card is only $77 and it will perform very well in 3dgames, as well as giving you very nice 2d quality (second only to Matrox). I personally own this card, and I know that it beats my friend's similarly configured system with a Geforce 2 MX.

My Vote for your friend is the Radeon DDR LE from www.newegg.com
