Hi guys,

I'm looking to replace the fan on ATI Radeon 9000 Pro. My card looks similar to this:

... but it doesn't have that bulky TV out component. As you can see the fan is pinned into a heatsink. I have no problems taking out the fan, but the heatsink seems permanently attached.

I've looked at other posts and heard about the Vantec Iceberq, but I'm worried it won't be compatible since the heatsink is in the way.

Is this heatsink able to come off? Is the iceberq quiet? Are there any noise reviews on it? Any alternatives to the iceberq? I'm looking for a noiseless or low noise solution.

I appreciate your help

Thanks,
Kub

there is a way. put the 9000 pro in an anti static bag, but it in the freezer for 2 hours. Take it out, get a credit card, put it between the heatsink and the pcb, and take a flat head screw driver and pry it off, the credit card will protect the board from getting damaged, while the cold temp will make the heatsink paste freeze and not work. I did this with my 9600 pro a while back and it had the same exact heatsink.

pretty much any heatsink that fits it should be fine, icebergs are fairly quiet i believe.
