ATI Radeon...now what???

I just installed my new ATI Radeon All In Wonder 32 Mb card, and hooked it up to my VCR. I was just wondering what in the world I am supposed to do next to watch VHS tapes on my monitor? I can't seem to find the right application or path to the VCR. Thanks for any help.

A little bit more info if ya can junior, Welcome BTW.

Did you press play on the VCR 🙂

also can you see and hear TV ? did you choose the composite instead of cable ?

I have the VCR hooked up correctly to the adapter using RCA cables and the adapter plugged in to the video in on the ATI card. When I hit play, nothing happens. The VCR is playing (according to the VCR's LCD display) but no picture or audio comes from my PC. Do I have to install any special drivers or something? The VCR works fine with my television at home. Do I need to have a television hooked up to the PC as well?

>Do I need to have a television hooked up to the PC as well?

no your monitor should do.

Do you have cable connected to your AIW-Radeon?

If so, when your vcr plays can you bring up the ATI-TV and see the TV play?

Can you select - composite - cable - inputs ?

If you see the TV play what happens when you select "composite" ?

No I don't have cable hooked up to the machine. I just wanted to be able to watch VHS tapes on my PC. When I press the TV icon in the ATI taskbar I get the error message "The TV player failed to initialize the video. Ensure the correct video drivers have been installed and close any application which may be playing video such as DVD or WebTV before attempting to restart TV." Once I hit the OK button it just shuts down the program.

>The TV player failed to initialize the video

Now were getting somewhere, you need the ATI-TV to watch the vcr. and if you can't load the ATI-TV that's a problem. If you have Win98 you need to install WebTV then re-install your MMC software.

I've had this problem with my 64 meg Radeon (ATI Video-In app not working). If you're running DirectX 8 under Win98/ME, upgrade to 8a. This fixed it for me.

It may be Directx. I remember I could NOT get the ATI TV-in, MMC, anything to work with any drivers except the drivers off the cd. No matter what order I installed them and that it wouldn't work. So after reading recommendations I installed Directx 8a, new drivers, multimedia center, works fine.

ah, the AIW Radeon strikes again! 🙂 Seriously ATI should get their act together. This is the first ATI card i've owned and the drivers are lived up to what people were whining about (they suck!). Anyway i'll give you afew tips. There are only one set of driver for the AIW that'll let you use all the features... for Windows9x/me 3063 and for Win2000 the 3053. Trust me this will save you alot of headaches. Sure you won't have the best FPS in Quake3 but at least your DVD/TV/Sp,dif will work! Now when were those unified drivers suppose to come out? All that said and done, i do like my AIW Radeon. Hook up a dreamcast through S-video and V-Tennis... awesome. Peace out.

First, if you are running Win98, change your Rage Theatre Chip driver to the version that came with the 7072 (7073? one of those) drivers. The drivers after that version kind of broke video in.

If you can get the TV application working, then you are all set. You just have to adjust the "source" from the antenna to RCA in and you will be able to watch TV. Also, where do you have the audio out cables from your VCR hooked up to? The purple box? And do you have the audio out from the AIW RADEON hooked up to your sound card's line in? And make sure line in isn't muted in your mixer.

I am using win2k and 3102 drivers, third driver set I've used, all features worked with all three that I've tried.
