ATI Radeon DDR 64mb or nVidia Geforce2 Pro DDR 64mb?

What exactly are the advantages of the Radeon's 3 textures per something or other over the Geforce2's whatever it has?

Does that mean it can just slap more textures over a model per clock cycle?

What I'm really trying to say is I don't know which one I should get now that I know the texture compression thing in the Geforce2 is a hardware problem.

HELP!

I would go for the Radeon...
A lot cheaper and almost? the same performence.(some times on par with the GF2, isn´t it?)
Plus the fact that you always have 32bit, which in some games can do pretty much for some games.

But I don´t know anything about the texture compression...not used very often I belive.

Would you prefer to look at good quality 3d and 2d or would you like the little bit of extra speed?

Hmm... I am pretty big on image quality...

The radeon isn't too horribly slow though, is it?

I heard the T&L engine wasn't as mature as nVidia's...

I, like Taz up there, have had many a Radeon's in our system, and the visual quality is just something else compared to Nvidia's products.
Not to say Nvidia makes bad stuff, they make excellent stuff, but if you want eye candy, then there's no choice but the Radeon.

IE; The Q3 tourney CTF map; the posts with coloured stripes look beautiful and rich compared to my TNT-2 ultra's.
Anyhoo, with my 64mb Radeon ES, I pull off an easy and constant 100fps in CS, just jumping around of course. The FPS obviously slows down when you battle, but even in the heaviest fog @ 1024x768, FORCED 32bit mode, I still get around 26fps.

And I mean right in the middle of the smoke grenade, and you can't see anything but that.

Plus the FSAA 4x is nice as well.
It takes away the "clarity" a bit, makes it look more like a "painted" image rather than sharper, if that's what you like.
Peronsally I like a sharper image (my eyes are dead :)), so I always run 1024x768/32bit in EVERYTHING I play.
