ATI Radeon and Win2K

I'm condsidering upgrading my friends computer to Win2K. Problem is that he has a radeon, and all I hear are sob stories on how horrible the radeon drivers are for win2k. Are those complaints still true or have the latest drivers fixed the compatibility/performance issues?

ati has done NOTHING to increase there driver preformance under win2k for the radeon. I wouldnt hold my breath either ATI has the WORST history for driver support...well atleast they run a close second to diamond/S3 for poor drivers.

I did read somewhere (dont remember where though) that their latest beta driver set improvves win2k perfomance drastically... someone correct me if im wrong though as I do not have any experience in the matter.

So can anyone confirm Win2k performance with the Radeons? I'm getting my Radeon in the mail tomorrow, and am considering a Win 2k Pro install or a dual boot with Win 98SE. Are the beta drivers much better for Win 2K?

according to this link win2k video card round up you are better off staying with nvidia. But this review was done back in September, and there may be some beta driver released since then. But no body can confirm the driver release and no body can show that the new driver is gonna be any better. Based on ATI's reputation, things are not looking good. That was the only reason I did not go with a AIW Radeon.

Radeon DDR 32MB. Dual-boot W2K & WinME (actually triple w/ Whistler Pro beta). Game from WinME. Most everything 2D done in W2K.

Overclock (only) in WinME to 183 (PS). Have never gamed from W2K.

Iiyama Pro 450, CUSL2 .. v. sweet. Getting 63fps Q3 117 demo 001 at 1024x768x32 with everything turned up max (P3-700 @938).

the radeon works quite well with the new drivers. I'm running an AIW and everything works including the tv tuner!!!!!!

I am running Win2K and have just got a ATI Radeon 64MB DDR ViVo and it works great for me with the new 7020 drivers and DX8. I am very happy with my new upgrade. i have not had any problems at all with the Radeon, the performance and speed is great, all of y games look awesome in Win2K. I play UT, SOF, Rogue, Nocturne, all work great. i am very pleased and impressed with my new Radeon.
