I ve been the happy owner of an ATi Radeon VE for the last 3 months and while fooling around in ATi's website, I just discovered the following for which I ask your technical experience....In the specifications page and under the title 3D acceleration features, ATi claims that Line & Edge Anti-Aliasing plus Full screen Anti-Aliasing are supported by the card. But in the MaxPayne options page I just realised that the only choice to select for Anti-Aliasing is......OFF! Can anyone explain that? Of course the card runs under the latest XP driver from ATi without any other problems, conflicts etc... Thanx!

I know with smoothvision, you can keep it on all the time, or game preference, or off. The Radeon core might be able to do that, but the VE isn't a good gaming card, might be disabled for those drivers, could just be the games problem too.

In your display settings under Direct3D. Check it by "Application Preference"

Yep that was it- just a matter of playing with my Direct3D and OpenGL settings tab in display properties! Max Payne now is under 2x anti-aliasing and looks great without a great loss in performance
NOTICE: The game wouldn't see the new settings unless I restarted the comp. Keep that in mind folks!
