Ended up with Infineon 3.0

Oh well- might have to take it in for exchange when they get another shipment in at my local BB.

I'm kind of with conehead on this one: Its sometimes a little nicer and avoids any confusion if a direct link is used by the deal finder

My Order comes to $238 with tax in Ct. After using the 10% off coupon that Bestbuy gave me for the sony Laptop error. Is this a good price should I get it for the Power Edge Deal?

I flashed the bios on my Sapphire 9800np and it runs at Pro speeds no problem even with 3.3ns memory. Even goes pretty far above them.

The Definitive ATI Bios, Softmod and Tweak Guide @ Futuremark Forums

Bookmark that if you feel like you're going to buy an ATI card soon.

As for new CPU and MB compared to a new video card, if you're going for 3dmark's you'd be pretty shocked by the jump getting a new card. I had a GeForce4 Ti4200, upgraded it to the Sapphire 9800np and my 3dmark03 score went from 1511 to 5665. Flashing to 9800pro and overclocking yielded scores above 6100. This was on a 2500xp barton machine. A new processor/mb won't net you those kind of results.

One more question. How can you tell if you have the samsung chips? Sorry for these basic questions.

Thanks for the help

They will say Samsung on the little black memory chips. Theres also a model number on each chip that you can type into google or samsung's site and it's fairly easy to determine its stats.

On my way to Wichita Falls to get one for my new machine going together tonight.
A7N8X Deluxe
XP 2500+
2x256mb Mushkin Level 2 PC3500
2x36gb WD Raptors
With the above vid card it will keep me just under the $1,000.00 WIFE imposed (with tax and shipping) limit...LOL!

Anyone know what the success rate of the 9800 to 9800 Pro is?:D:beer:
Or rather know anyone who has not been successful?

What $25 coupon? There is no mention of that on the web site or in store. Or am I blind?

Check BestBuy.com's front page. You will be emailed an online coupon for a future purchase if you place an order over $250 by the end of the day. Checking the fine print, the coupon will not be sent until "on or about 10/31 /03". Looks like they are trying to avoid problems with people returning their items and keping the coupon. You have to use the coupon by 11/14/03, so don't forget to check for the email when the time comes or you will miss out.

I remebered this thread from when I read it at midnight, but forgot about the $25 coupon and bought one in store today. I'm ordering online now, so if the one from instore has slow memory, I'll have another to try. Order must be $250 - $500 for a $25 digital coupon. I suggest this Fuji 50 pack of CD-Rs for $4.99 after rebate.

50 pack CD-R

BTW, this seems like a great deal especially after 3 unsuccessful attempts to soft-mod Saphire 9500 NPs from Newegg.

I picked one up today in-store and it has the Infineon memory, so I just ordered another on-line for in-store pickup along with the Fuji CD-R's (nice suggestion Woz) and will pick it up tonight to see if I get one with different memory. I doubt it, but at least I'll get my $25 gift card in a month and a half by doing it this way.
