To add to this thread about ripping ppl off, what does MSI do? they have r360 cores sold as r350 cores @ r350 prices. Does this also "rob" ati of their xt sales? I think it does. Where do they fit into this picture in your guys' opinions?

Letsee . . . ati, huh?

Ati sold TWO identical cards - the 9800Pro 256/256MB and the 9800XT . . . well, not absolutely identical since the XT comes with the HL2 voucher (worthless 'TILL now) and a better ($10) HS. ;)

The only "real" difference is the BIOS; flashing the 256MB pro with the XT's BIOS turns it into a "real" XT.

Now ATI sells the XT for $100 more than the 256MB pro.

What do YOU think?

I think his point was that they lost they extra they would have made if the person had bought the XT instead of flashing a pro. Clearly they dont lost anything just by the overclocking.

in other words, there was no point ;)

Appopin manufacturers 2 types of video cards. One mid high end, and one high end. He sells them for $200 and $300 respectively. After a while, he is wondering why none of his high end cards are selling even though they blow the mid high end card out of the water. He learns that people are only buying the mid-high end card and modding it to be the same as his high end version. So people are taking advantage of Appopin's design and getting high end cards for mid high end pricing. But Appopin is ok with this because he doesn't mind having all those high end cards on the shelf and not moving. He is fine with the fact that people are getting his high end card without paying him for the high end card. Sort of "stealing" from Appopin. If you don't get my point now, please tell me how I can explain it to you in a more fundamental way. Oh yeah:

I never know what the hell you mean with your dumb A$$ smiley faces appopin. It's like your skitzo or something. They are called emoticons for a reason. So I can tell when your joking, angry, sad, etc, etc.

Your "style" sucks and is confusing for someone trying to get the "feel" of what your talking about.

And the next time you so decide to say that I have "no point", why don't you just ask me if you didn't understand what it was?

This is a very unrealistic view of appopin's economy Keysplayr. It is likely that people will still by the high end card and on top of this more likely that fence sitters who are deciding between Rollo's and Appopin's version of the mid high end card would choose Appopin's because Rollo's only uses 2.5ns and Appopin has deftly equipped his with 2.0! This means that compared to Rollo's sales his mid high end cards have done very well.
