My friend is on a tight budget. He wants to get a ATI RADEON 9800 Pro, no other card. His mobo has a 4x agp slot, A P4 1.8 and 512 RAM. Should He get the 225 dollar Radeon 9800 pro 128 DD, 256- bit at newegg.com? or get the 256 ddr 256-bit 9800 Pro card at newegg.com for 265? Is there big difference for him spending 40 dollars more for the same card with 256 mem ddr? Both are made by ATI.

No performance differences in any realistic situation between 128MB and 256MB. 256MB is faster at 1600x1200 w/ 4xAA and 16xAF, but not by much -- and both cards run pretty slowly with those settings in any newer games.

Overall the 9800p doesnt have enough juice in it to actually be able to use all of the memory in the 256mb model before it starts to fall drastically in frames. There are occasions where it uses over 128mb, but not too many.
