Ati Radeon 9800 Pro Component Video out adapter

I Use my PC COnstantly in my room, as a PC and small enterntainment center. I was wondering how good the Component video out adapter from ATI works. The s video out to my TV looks SOSO and I was wondering if the adapter is worth dropping another 30 bucks on this rig.

Apparently it works just fine. However, you really need an EDTV/HDTV to get any dramatic benefits from it, since then you can run in progressive resolutions, or in true HD (720p/1080i).

so I guess regular component inputs on my 27 inch toshiba wouldn't make much a difference. I don't want this to be my main enterainment device. Just someting to watch while I play around and try to sleep.

It might be a slight improvement over S-Video, but you're still only getting a 480i signal out of it without an EDTV/HDTV to connect it to. Sorry, there's just so much you can do with an SDTV.

I'm using it to output 720p to my Infocus 4805 projector and it looks amazing for games / movies.

The color might get better on a SD tv vs. s-video. Text got sharper for me on the projector, but that might be more of a widescreen issue.

I'd have to agree that it probably wouldn't improve much to move from s-video.
