I know that the requirement for the 9800 is a 300watts or higher power supply. But the power supply that came with my dell computer is only 250watts. Will this lack of power reduce my gaming performace? I've noticed that when I play NFS Underground the perforamce is not as great as I thought it would be. Seems like my friend who has a 9500 w/ a slower cpu is running the game faster than I am.

I have a p4 2.6 HT, pc3200 768MB ddr ram

Run 3dmark 2003, 2001, and make sure you have all the latest updates, drivers, and game patches the report back with 3dmark scores

Too little power wouldn't cause a lower 3dmark score or slower game performance. It would cause instability and crashes. If it's not locking, Then I would say your ok.

i ran a 9700np on a "powerman" 250w power supply for a week or so w/ no problems. if you're not having stability issues, i don't suppose you need to upgrade. but 300w power supplies are pretty inexpensive these days should you choose to upgrade.

My matx PSU (180 watts) is pretty muched maxed with my p4 2.4c at 2.7ghz and an aiw9800. If I run the p4 at 3.0ghz the machine is very unstable. You should be OK
