Ok this scared me. This hasn't happened in many years. My computer just froze. I had to reboot. Now the only hardware change has been graphics card. I ran a Geforce4 TI for days and never had a lockup like this. Just yesterday I switched to the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro and a few minutes ago my system just froze.

I'm running the latest 3.2 series for it as well. System information can be found in the link in my signature. What I've done right now is I've gone into the advanced settings and slid that slider over to the left one notch and see if this happens again.

My AMD setup 8RDA+ and ATI 9700 Pro didn't work well.I was getting lockups in 3DMark and some other problems. When i switched to Intel all was fine. You might also want to download drivercleaner to get rid of any Nvidia files left in your sytsem. That could screw it up bad. Some people go as far as reformatting when switching from Nvidia to ATI.

So far so good. I haven't had a lockup since posting my original message. I've heard about these Omega drivers but haven't tried them out. I may do that. As for the cleaner yeah I did that. Couple things I still had to manually remove. Had a weird problem where it kept getting put back into the registry after I deleted it. I shut down most all running programs and was able to remove it and make it stay gone.
