Hi guys...
I just modded my Radeon 9700 Pro with a Cooljag JAC313C 1U CPU cooler, and currently I'm running the fan off a PSU molex connector. Since the fan is using a 3 pin connector(with fan monitoring) and the board's fan power connector is 2 pin, I'm wondering if the card is able to handle the new fan's load? The fan specifications are as follows:

Dimension: 60L x 60W x 10H(mm)
Rated Voltage: 12 V DC
Speed: 5300±10%RPM
Bearing System: One Ball Bearing

I couldn't find any current ratings for the fan though...but from what I've read these fans are the exact same blue dynatron fans that are used in the stock HSFs of recent Athlon XPs.

I wouldn't try it the connector and bus is probbably only designed to push enough power to power the default fan and it looks like that one is far more powerful than the default fan and you don't want to kill your card over something stupid like that.

BTW the amp/mamp rating would be more relevent than the info provided.

Yeah I realize the amp rating's the one to look at, but neither the website nor the fan itself gave any indication of its amperage...which is why I thought the next most important thing to look at was the fan speed, which usually gives an indication of how powerful it is. How much current does the stock AMD HSF with the blue fans draw anyway? I think they're the same model, just different color.

Also, how much current does the stock ATI fan draw? Couldn't find any info on that either.
