I did a search for the Radeon 9600 at shopper.com and found Office Depot's website techdepot is pre-selling the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro for $196. Looks like the 9600 Pro's are shipping soon, hope ATI makes an official announcement. :):D

If they don't get below $150 then they won't sell very well, esp when you can get a 9500PRO for $177.00

*I want one though, just for the overclocking goodness, plus the low heat dissipation...

Gimme a 9600 pleaaaaasssseeee ATI. 400MHz ohhh yeah drooool drooool...

I have an ATI 8500 LE with 64MB. I am considering getting a new card. 9500 Pro or the 9600? I can handle about $200.

Same situation as you basically- I'm waiting to see how things pan out- pretty soon the 9700 np will be $200- so it's a tossup.

No way can this card be more expensive than the 9500pro when it costs ATI so much less to make them. Only four pipes you know. ATI is playing the model number game. 9600 is automatically better than a 9500 to the average consumer right? And we all know that the 9600 is less powerful than a 9500 right? So ATI is trying to recoop some of its losses for the expensive R300 core that it's 9500 and 9500 pro have been using.
I hope the consumer is wiser than I would believe.

Stretch your budget a bit for a ~$215 9700 rather than a ~$175 9500P. Double the bandwidth is worth it, IMO.

Keys, all new cards will be near retail. Wait a few weeks for prices to drop, which they surely will--the 9600 chip has half the transistors and no external power.

Just go to the ATI online store, ATI appears to have them in stock and will ship you one if you order it.

The low-power, low-heat Radeon 9600 is what I have my eye on. Great for us Shuttle XPC owners who don't have massive power supplies. :D
