I am having a weird problem on a new computer I am building. After installing the drivers for my Radeon 9600 Pro, my Samsung 240T fires right up with the correct resolution (1920 x 1200, using autodetect). Then as soon as I reboot, the monitor fires up and is stuck at 1280 x 1024, without any higher resolutions available, not even 1600 x 1200.

What the hell is going on?

You haven't by any chance attached it to VGA _and_ DVI outputs of that card? Either way, what you can do is install the monitor's static driver (rather than the generic PnP monitor driver). That'll keep Windows from (mis-)detecting the monitor.

It's a DVI cable that's hooked up to the DVI port on both the card and the monitor, so that's correct.

And Windows detects the monitor properly - it says it's 'Samsung 240T - Digital' so that's fine. It worked properly at first, nothing has changed.

I'll try to update the monitor driver, but I'm sure that's not the issue.

Tried updating the monitor drive from Samsung's web site. No joy.

More info: First of all, I've had this monitor hooked up to another computer for a number of years and it ran without a hitch at 1920 x 1200 the entire time. Since trying to move the monitor over to another computer, I've seen two different video cards behave in the same way - initially fire up properly, then upon subsequent reboots, max out the resolution at 1280 x 1024.
