For STOCK out of box performance. Not softmod, no hardmod. Stock.

And don't suggest anything other than what's listed in the subject line.

Current games the 9500 pro but the 9600pro 128 or 256 will probably beat the 9500 pro once new dx9 games come out.

The 9500PRO is as DX9 compatible as the 9600PRO and was seen to perform better so I'm not sure how the 9600PRO could perform better in future DX9 games (feel free to correct me if i'm wrong).

256MB on a 9600PRO would be completely wasted as the card is not powerful enough to take advantage of the extra memory, even a 256MB 9800PRP or 5900Ultra cannot really take advantage of the extra 128MB memory.

I'd go for the 9500PRO if you can find it as at stock speeds it is the best performer as far as I know. Good luck!:D:beer:

i'll agree that the 256MB of memory is a waste right now. as time goes on, texture size increases in games, and the bigger they get, the more handy 256MB of memory will be. you are probably correct about the 9600pro, as it only has 4 texture pipelines. a 9500pro, the 9700 series or 9800 seires all have 8 pipelines (i think?) and could handle the memory bandwidth much better, taking advantage of 256 MB or RAM when its actually needed...a year or so down the road.

but since Sunny is limited to the three cards above, i would also say the 9500pro.

I bought a 9500 PRO "NEW" at COMPUSA about 2 week ago for $129.00. Keep searching, It took me a good 2 months before I could get the right card at the right price. Make sure you look at the "hot deals" forum on AnandTech. This is where I found my 9500Pro at $129.00.

thanks for the suggestion but:
that was a visiontek card, not ati brand
and the deal is now dead

and i hope no one here bought those newegg refurbs. there were 5 in stock when i posted. at the very least someone couldve posted "yes buy it" and then bought one themselves, instead of letting me sit here waiting for a response. it would be a shame if i came here for advice and got raped instead.

nah, i just prefer brand name. and brand name always costs more, so strictly by $$, seeing visiontek at cheaper price is not as surprising or rare

Refurbs on newgg ALWAYS go fast. If you want one you have to strike quick, sorry you didn't get yours.

yes, i realize newegg refurbs go fast

the point is i came here for advice before the purchase... arent u supposed to do research before a purchase? i was watching it and 5 of those 9500s had been sitting there for half an hour before i posted. i wanted to know if there was a reason like... maybe they were underclocked OEM versions (are there even diff versions of 9500 as there are for other radeons?).

i find it suspicious that after my posting, they all sell out within 20 minutes, AND my question continues unanswered. if it was a coincidence... my bad. but if someone read my post, bought a card and didnt reply to my inquiry... how rude :/

Jesus christ you ask for help then come here and slag people off when they try and find one for you? In case you hadn't noticed there's 100'000s of other people in America all likely wanting a 9500PRO card too which could explain why it sold out so quickly when there was only 5 of the bloody things lef! Use what little brain you have and stop making ridiculous accusations about others here 'raping' you when all they tried to do was help. Now THATS what i call rude, last time i help you out bud, what a d|ck. :(:|

granted. like i said though, they only sold out after my post

really? who is they? my question still hasnt been answered.

circumstantial evidence mixed with a little paranoia makes me think ppl used my link to buy the card and didnt bother to help me out. i appreciate the one person who supplied a suggestion, i dont know how you got the impression otherwise.

ill admit i may be overreacting... im still thoroughly annoyed at being shafted on staples monitor deal

Unless i'm mistaken it wasn't even your thread in the first place, it was SunnyD's, so not only did you hi-jack the thread you made a complete ass of yourself to boot by insulting everyone here in the most ridiculous and pointless way you could have done. I've got no time for people like that and that's all I have to say on the matter.

er... how do you hi-jack a thread? i did the polite thing by searching for a similar thread first (similar to my dilemma: 9500p vs 9600p) and posting to that thread instead of starting a whole new repetitive thread

anyway, whats done is done, id still like an answer regarding these 'oem barebones' 9500s... whether they are stock speeds

I meant that the 9600pro is more dx9 compliant as it has the new smartshader 2.1 if you look at the bench marks for splinter cell (dx9) from the link below that the 9600pro beats it. But all older games the 9500pro wins hand down. I just think the 9600 pro is a better buy for the future. It's something I looked into before I bought mine and I went with the 9600pro so maybe my thougts are a little biased.

I would go with the ATi 9500 Pro ( remember it has 8 pipelines) second choice would be 9600 Pro(128mb).

They don't underclock a card simply because it's oem. Oh, and I was thinking, maybe newegg doesn't update the quantity in stock in real time, so there could have been less than 5 when you posted? I'm not sure, just a thought though.
