I would like to get a decent card for casual gaming. Had my eye on the 8500/le model. Should I wait to see how the 9100 plays out before getting an 8500? Saw a few posts at rage3d suggesting that it could be better. However, a big reason I want the 8500 is its price. :)

Thanks

From what I've read, the only difference would be the 9100 is DX9 compliant. The 8500 is here now and the price is right.

It is the same core as the 8500le, clocked at 250/250. It does NOT add DirectX 9 compatibility!

Why not try picking up a used 8500 128Meg from the forums?

Yeah from what I've heard the 9100 is going to be an overpriced 8500. Get a real 8500 while you still can!

The R9100 is just a renamed R8500, to denote it's postion as being marginally faster then the Radeon9000 and assist in selling off the remaining inventory of R200 chips still lying around before they phase it out completely.
