I am pressed at figuring out which one to stick in my friends computer that I am building from spare parts he picked up.

Reviews seem to be mixed...

ATI Radeon 7500 64 2x/4x

Geforce4 mx440 8x (with 8x/4x slot design)

Upon reviews and such that I have picked up the mx440 beats it by a margin of like 5-10%. The kicker is that the board it is being installed in is only 4x. So is it safe to say that the 5-10% benefit will not be there due to the lack of agp 8x?

The memory clock is locked on the 7500 so thats a no for OCing on it. The mx440 on the other hand can oc pretty well.

So... which would you choose?

The GF4 will be a bit faster but the Radeon will give you 16xAF for free. I'd probably go with the Radeon.

7500 ~ = 440MX in performance. They are generally very close.

I would take the 7500, I had Sapphire 7500 and the 2D display quality is really good. Likely much better than the 440MX. Since gaming performance is going suck on both them go for better 2D.

Good points... I was initially leaning towards the mx440 but now that I think of it, the card doesnt even have a HSF and no visual signs of what brand it is. Looks mighty generic and the 7500 has svideo/dvi/vga outputs.

thanks guys
