Hello!
Recently I bough a ATI radeon 3850 256mb video card. I put it in my ASrock 4COREDUAL-SATA2 motherboard. (NOTE: THis mobo supports only PCIe x4 speeds, not x16). I installed latest drivers and the catalyst.
The problem is: The screen will mess up like here: http://xs128.xs.to/xs128/08251/38501366.jpg (Note the red stuff doesn't appear). When something like this happens, the PC will just freeze totally, sometimes unfreeze after 5 seconds, getting a VPU recovery message, or sometimes once screen messes up the monitor will go into standby mode and I will have to reboot.
Edit: Forgot- sometimes screen will mess up like in the picture(or something similar) for about 2 seconds and then it will be back to normal.
My PC specs are:
CPU: Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz, 800 Mhz bus Socket 775, @ 3.56Ghz
Mobo: ASRock 4COREDUAL-SATA2 rev 2
HDD1- WD Raptor 36GB Sata
RAM: OCZ Platinium Edition 2GB DDR - 400Mhz
Windows XP SP2
monitor: Syncmaster 150N
Before the upgrade on the video card, i was running ATI radeon 9200 SE 128mb with no problems.
